waldorf dolls

no project i have worked on has been quite as intimidating as these dolls. with this as my inspiration, i’ve really put a lot of pressure on myself. recently, howver, i tackled the eyes, which were far easier than i thought they’d be. so…next up is the hair! I think this will be the most time-consuming part because each lock of hair has to be added individually with a crochet hook.

next week is the craft fair, so by then i should have three finished dolls to share!

can i freak out yet?

the pressure is on! with only 3 weeks left (??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????!?!?!?!?!?) until the craft fair, i’m feeling that last little bit of panic set in. i have a lot finished, but there is still so much to do. weave in the ends on 2 more pairs of wrist warmers. weave in the ends of some crochet-covered rocks. cover more rocks with crochet. hand sew a few more felt brooches (like the navy and white lace ones in the bag below). make my tags and labels. create a display for the headbands. oh yeah, and make three or four waldorf dolls! um, why have i been knitting myself a sweater?

my plan is to start with the little things first. finish all of the loose ends on projects that are almost done. weave in all of those ends. hand sew. and then make a couple dolls. i’ll work on all of the heads, then assemble them all at the same time. do the hair. etc… you know, assembly line-style. i think i’m feeling so much pressure to make my dolls look amazing, but i just need to get over it and make my own!

felted soap

are we really approaching mid-November already?! i can’t beleive it! i’ve got a craft fair the first weekend of december and i don’t feel at all prepared! i also wanted to make some little holiday gifts for wyatt’s teachers. i decided (thank you april) to try one of the felted soap tutorials floating around on-line. they were fast, fun, and easy – and with great results! the tutorials i found all had you working on one bar of soap at a time but, as you may know, that’s just not fast enough for me! i slipped my wool-wrapped soap bars into an old pair of tights, tossed the kids in the tub with them and let them take over! five minutes later we had felted wool and i was standing at the kitchen sink cutting the tights open.

the kids did a great job picking colors and wrapping the soap themsleves. wyatt’s all have green in them. my soap has the orange and yellow stripes, looks like a candy corn, and is the worst looking one of the bunch! thankfully the kids did such a great job!

okay. i can check one thing off my list. only 782 more things to make!

(just kidding – but it sure feels that way!)
