Greenfield

have you seen this book? it has quite a few sweet things to knit. i’d been searching the depths of ravelry for a garter stitch cardigan when i happened upon this book. though i didn’t follow the pattern exactly, i did use it for the stitch count and increases/decreases. knit with tosh vintage, this sweater is cool, comfortable and itch-free. i love the subtle purple and blue variations in color and the wooden buttons i used just make the color that much more drastic. this is my perfect spring sweater!

sugaring

it’s spring! ! !

sun. snow. mud. sun. rain. sun. sun. . . what an incredible feeling when the sun finally returns! and these cold nights and warmer days mean that special and oh-so-brief time is upon us: sugaring season!

for dinner, we had pancakes with fresh, warm maple syrup, strawberries and raspberries that we’d picked last summer and fresh home-made whipped cream. i’d have taken a picture if i hadn’t been so busy stuffing my face!

this weekend we’ll mix sugaring in with some shopping…cris and i are leaving the kids home while we go on a date to some architectural selvage places…yay!

back to “normal”

this past week has brought our family back to “normal.” the big family gatherings and gift exchanges over, we’ve all happily settled into the rhythm of our usual days. playing, baking,  skating, cleaning, painting, reading, snowshoeing, sledding, KNITTING, and quiet time together. the kids and i took a nice walk in the woods with their nana. we examined animal tracks, scat and tree bark, climbed trees, listened to the crow calls cutting through the silence and just enjoyed the combination of snow and sun. i am so thankful for the natural world around us.
