for me! for me?

i’m still here…still knitting away…for me! i know it’s getting silly, but i’ve just been feeling so inspired by my stash to whip up a little self-indulgence. i promise, sweaters for the children will be next!

this chunky-knit hat that has been on my wish list for years!

and these wrist warmers. started for me…but as they were knit, i couldn’t decide: should i keep them for myself or give them to my (over-worked, under-appreciated, knitwear-lusting) mother-in-law? well, i think that makes the answer pretty obvious!

now onto knitting for those sweet blonde babes of mine!

sweet snow: outdoor edition

yes, we have, of course, been enjoying the snow for what it is: snow. wyatt and i had the chance to go for a nice snowshoe together. we wandered the woods and fields as the snow poured down…it was wonderful!

we’ve also been out sledding and playing in the yard. just when i’m starting to get that sluggish afternoon feeling, i force myselft to bundle up and out we go. the fresh air is amazing and the lift of energy is so refreshing.

(i love these little song bird tracks on the steps!)

i am LOVING all of this snow – what better excuse to pile on layers of wool and hand knits?!

as promised: knitting

well, i promised knitting news…i just didn’t think it was going to be this.

i was all set with my new, fabulous yarn, a knitting magazine and sweet success on the horizon. but i just felt so…uninspired. so i set it aside, went back to ravelry, and found, in the depths of my favorited items, this pattern. i’d made it once before in a child’s size for wyatt and loved the results. i also had a great stash of purple and gray yarns from my grandmother, all in worsted weight. with a couple new additions from the yarn shop, i cast on! a little mindless (lots of garter stitch) and a little taxing (when should i switch colors? am i balancing the hue/value? and so on) but mostly just pure excitement for a warm, wooly, one-of-a-kind hooded sweater that soon will be mine.

have a great weekend!
