where we’ve been

well, it was a postless week around here. i blame it on the snow. have you gotten any? it is deep, fluffy and sparkling in the sunlight! we’ve been snowshoeing, sledding and fort building. we also took a great walk in the woods. when we dropped down over a hill and couldn’t see the house, isabelle worried we were lost. it was a great opportunity for a lesson in looking at the sun and following a ridge line (they run north/south). i also ran ahead and hid behind a tree and let the kids “track” me. then they took turns doing the same. we found rabbit tracks, coyote tracks and even a few deer tracks.

just like my summer excuse, when the outdoors is so beautiful, it’s really hard for me to come inside and sit at the computer…but on monday, i’ll be back with some fun knitting and sewing projects i’ve been working on…see you then!

knit news

in knitting news:

i’ve finished a couple kitty hats. isabelle already had an orange/white one (pictured in my previous post), but i couldn’t resist knitting her this gray/blue combo. very “boy” in color, but it looks great with her bright blue eyes:

i’m currently knitting a baby sweater for a friend who is expecting her third. i wanted to knit a little something for the older kids (4 and 7), so i knit a kitty hat for her daughter. isabelle willingly modeled it:

i also finished my dad’s skully sweater. it’s a pattern that i wrote myself (!), originally for isabelle in size 2T, and now again in a man’s medium for my dad (and hopefully cris, soon). i want to get it up on ravelry soon…i’ll let you know when that happens!

elsie marley

this month i am doing a test-sponsorship at elsie marley. i love everything she does – her home, holiday decorations, kid’s projects – but what really sold me was the plush backhoe. being the mother of a serious backhoe lover, i really appreicate the boy-friendly crafts. i’ve also gathered so much inspiration from her kcwc (s). check out all of her great ideas (and while you’re there, you can see my cute little button in the side bar).
