lewey lake

we spent the weekend camping with my parents on lewey lake, tucked into the western side of new york’s adirondack mountains. there was so much “nothingness” to be done that we all felt both relaxed and exhausted by the end of the weekend. it was, however, a wonderful mini-vacation from home.

immediately uppon arrival, isabelle went to the water (of course).

we were swarmed by the ducks. cris fed them bread from his mouth!

we played at the beach when it was cold as well as when it was hot!

wyatt fished…while isabelle pouted.

we read, played in the woods, built this fairy house and campfire, made s’mores, went for walks and bounced around the tent. and yes, i even finished a knitting project!

the fair: farm and field days

a day at the fair:

the kids loved the corn-boxes!

what is there to say? the kids had fun. cris and i had fun. we saw lots of old friends. had maple ice cream and maple cotton candy. cooled down with rainbow ice from the same husband and wife that was serving it 20 years ago when i was a kid. enjoyed the kids enjoying the rides. and we all slept really well when we got home!

aunt jessie and uncle mark

we spent sunday at aunt jessie and uncle mark’s farm. it’s nothing commercial…just a few animals to feed their own family. a couple of cousins were there, and the kids had a blast. i love when they can play with their cousins!

isabelle and cousin k spent most of their time on the rope swing.

the boys spent most of their time playing the the barn. there were pigs and piglets to inspect, cows to feed hay and grain. hay stacks to move, sawdust to shovel and move, and who knows what else!

we ended the day with an afternoon picnic. the kids were so hungry that they ate ALL of the food. i didn’t even take my snack, and splitting it amongst the 4 kids, they devoured my portion as well!
