i’m off to massachusetts for a fun weekend of craft fairing, girl nights, and maid-of-honor dress shopping. oh yeah, and there is that (semi) dreaded 5k on saturday morning…
(a ccr woodblock i printed in college)
see you next week!
we took a morning walk for a change of pace. i know we all get plenty of outdoor time, but there is something so mysterious and almost seceret about walking quietly through a still morning. frost on the grass. pink and yellow coming over the mountain. birds silent overhead. feeling both warm and cold. happy children.
back at home, after breakfast dishes were cleared away, we sat down at the kitchen table to carve. wyatt sketched out two designs and we each carved one.
(thank you for this picture, isabelle)
there is no joy quite the same as the one felt when your children take an interest in one of your own passions…
it’s a rainy friday morning…
we’re cleaning and working on some projects. the kids have a huge fort in the living room and they’re pretending to be ants. wyatt is a working ant, isabelle is a baby ant, and i am mrs. ant.
i’m trying to get a few projects going. sometimes when i have a lot of projects to do, i feel so overwhelmed that i don’t do anything. i’m trying to keep the momentum so i don’t fall into that trap. here’s what i’m doing:
stamping 150 cards with my business information. this is a custom order that needs to be in the mail in less than a week.
i mounted the inside text (“thank you”) to a clear mount. it’s small enough to press by hand, though the front image of the card will still have to go through the press.
i wound a gazillion (okay, only three) bobbins for the sewing machine. i wanted to make a couple old-sweater-owls. i don’t have any plans for where they’ll go, but it seemed like a good way to get off track.
during breakfast i knit a couple rounds on this baby pumpkin hat a friend has asked me to knit. it’s not my favorite project, but i’m not going to pick up any other knitting until this is done. hopefully that will only be another day or two and then i can get on to someĀ other things…
finally, the kids decided it would be a good day to make a pinata. that basically meant they each applied 5 strips of newspaper and then wanted to wash their hands.
i finished it and left it in the basement to dry.
this afternoon, my mother’s helper is coming and i plan to get a lot of crafting done! i should have many wonderful things to show you on monday. have a great weekend!
