free time!

antler-button-hoodie

this sweater has been a favorite, and i’ve enjoyed passing it around. i knit if for belle, then passed it to our friend thomas, then our friend gabriel. we just got it back and i can’t wait to pass it on to emily’s baby this spring!

pants

i’m also planning to give emily’s baby these little polka dot pants. the white wool pants are for wyatt and the green wool with the lace trim are belle’s. in the spring wy can wear the striped pair - i made them cropped (so cute on boys) from an old shirt via the instructions in this book. and…i made this skirt for myself from this free pattern, which i really enjoyed.

africa_skirt

this is all the product of having a husband who is around a lot during the week. it’s been nice on so many levels. the kids have really deepened their relationships with him, we’ve had some great family time, each of us has been allowed more alone time, and i’ve used my sewing machine without a little foot pressing on mine while i try to use the pedal. bliss.

adding to the list

i’m adding some more things to my list of craft projects to make. they are:

a monkey for wy-guy (and i actually did this today!)

a pom-pom filled tulle skirt for izzy for valentine’s day

these amazing pants for wyatt

a huge stuffed-animal snake for wy

a fabric valentine for cris

some clothes for myself…

…i’m sure there’s more, but i don’t remember them right now. a lot of my inspiration is coming from this series - such an awesome idea and totally appreciated! at least i did get the monkey made. sister wants one too!

she-loves-the-monkey

i’m thinking the snake will be made from this waffle fabric from my stash. and maybe some cropped pants from the monkey’s leftover brown corduroy?

tuesday=love

tuesday. a sweet, sweet day in a week of increasing obligations. yes, it’s playgroup day and cris loves it! he’s made some new man-friends and has really been enjoying their morning gatherings. i love being alone in my own home for two hours! it’s quiet. i’m productive. here is some proof:love-cloth-napkins

amy butler’s love=some new double sided cloth napkins (we were all  using solid blue 0nes – now it will be easier to tell who has which napkin. no more, “well, this one has a big smudge of sour cream on it and a dried bean stuck to the fringe…”)

knitting-basket

this felted sweater knitting basket is only a 3-minute project, and it looks so nice sitting on the window shelf (originally made by cris to start our seedlings in the spring, but who doesn’t love to see a knitting basket full of yarn being adorned by sun?!) the sweater inside is almost done…a project for myself, which is long overdue. i’m working the ribbing on the second sleeve and then i have to knit the neck! not bad (and i’m working on it now as i wait for my pics to upload).

making-valentines

okay, so i’m not alone here, but it still proves that a lot gets done when you have just one child working with you! belle and i made valentines for the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. as i spelled names out (g-r-a-m-p-i-e) her little voice echoed each letter and her chubby little hand “wrote” them out. it was a wonderful time together.

obstacle_course

one other thing the kids helped me make? an obstacle course! complete with running, hopping, crawling, weaving, and laughing!
