wall art

i’m so excited to finally get wyatt’s prints framed and hanging on the wall. i put them in the kitchen (where i spend most of my indoor time) and am loving them! wyatt felt so happy to see his work on the wall – sweet boy!

what we made

the fruits of our tie dye labors:

tie-dye-dress

izzy’s dress/skirt. i did 5 rows of shirring with elastic thread at the top, sewed it into a tube and we were done! no hemming - i think the raw edges are perfect. she loves it and is now wearing it as a skirt. for wyatt…something a little more season-less. he helped with the sewing and turning the handles right side out.

let me just start off this post like i started my day. after some slight living room arranging, the boys settled into reading. i snapped a quick photo, and two minutes later…well, let’s just say that there was nothing quiet about it. and we’ve been going strong ever since:

we started off with some tie dye. just pieces of unbleached cotton. wy wanted to make his into a bag. i’m thinking of a scarf for myself…

we rubberbanded…

tiedye3

we dipped and dyed…

the we rinsed. un-rubberbanded. rinsed some more. hung to dry. and admired.

then it was on to the cookies. mixing. chilling. rolling. cutting. cooking. frosting. and (if you ask the kids) best of all, sprinkling!

and then there was house demolishing (in a mostly good way). baked pineapple slices. maple-nut granola. asparagus-leek quiche. broccoli au gratin. twice baked potatoes. and a job interview! whew! all i can hope for now is enough energy to knit a couple of rows on my new project
